Good preparation makes for a better session. Before your journey, we’ll connect by phone or Zoom and you’ll complete a short set of required paperwork. Here’s what to expect from each.
The Preparation Call
Before your session, we’ll schedule a preparation call. This is a chance for us to get to know each other, talk through your intentions, and make sure you feel ready for the experience ahead. Click here to schedule your preparation call.
During this call, we’ll typically cover:
- Your intentions. What’s bringing you to this work, and what you’re hoping to explore or understand. Click here for a guide to setting intentions.
- Your history. A conversation about your physical and mental health background, so we can make sure this is a safe fit for you.
- What to expect. A walkthrough of the day itself, from arrival through the session and the time afterward.
- Logistics. Practical details like timing, what to bring, and how to prepare your days before and after.
- Any questions or concerns. This is your chance to ask anything on your mind before we move forward.
Required Forms
As a facilitator licensed through Oregon Psilocybin Services (OPS), I’m required to complete a set of paperwork with every client before a session. This isn’t just a formality. It’s part of what keeps this work safe, transparent, and accountable.
You’ll be asked to review and sign a few documents, which generally include:
- Client Bill of Rights, outlining what you can expect from me and from the process.
- Informed consent, confirming that you understand the nature of the experience, the risks involved, and what participation means.
- A health and safety screening, so we can identify anything that might affect your session.
- A safety and support plan, outlining how we’ll handle your care during the session, including how to respond if anything difficult comes up.
- A supportive touch document, explaining how and when supportive touch, such as a hand-hold, a hand on the shoulder, or a hug, might be used during a session, and making clear that your consent is required both in writing beforehand and in the moment. Even if you’ve opted in, touch is never initiated by me. It only happens if you ask for it in the moment, and your boundaries are always respected.
- A facilitation agreement, covering the terms of our work together.
I’m always happy to walk you through each of these directly. If anything is unclear, we’ll go over it together before you sign.
